Airport Transfer Selector
Suvarnabhumi (BKK), Don Mueang (DMK), and Phuket (HKT) all have different transfer mixes. ARL only serves BKK. Public taxi line at BKK is famously slow at 2am. Don Mueang rides are easier. This tool weighs them.
Inputs
What this solves
The classic "where do I queue" problem, plus late-night and family-with-luggage scenarios.
How to read
- Public taxi line: fixed 50 THB surcharge + 35 THB flag-fall + 6/km + expressway tolls (75–110 THB). Always queue at official taxi stand — ignore touts.
- ARL (Airport Rail Link): 15–45 THB to Phaya Thai, 30 min. Connects to BTS. No luggage-friendly if 3+ bags.
- Grab/Bolt: surge up to 2.5× at 2 am. ~5–10% no-driver rate at night.
- Limousine: 1,200–1,800 THB flat; fixed price but 3× taxi. Worth it for 4 people or 5 am flight.
Limitations
- ARL stops at midnight. Don't plan ARL after 11 pm.
- BKK taxi queue can take 30+ min at 11 pm. Arrive with patience.
- Don Mueang does NOT have ARL. Only taxi / Grab / AOT limo.
- Some hotels offer free pickup — always check first.
FAQ
Is Grab allowed to pick up at BKK?
Yes, since 2022. Pickup at Level 1 or designated area; follow the in-app guidance. Touts offering "Grab" inside the terminal are scam drivers.
DMK vs BKK — which is closer to Khao San?
BKK is 30 km from Khao San, DMK is 25 km. Both ~45–60 min in dry traffic. Khao San hotels often offer free pickup from DMK.
Should I pre-book a transfer?
Yes, for early morning flights (before 7 am) or late-night arrivals (after 11 pm). Welcome Pickups, Klook, and most hotels offer fixed-price options.
