Chiang Mai is a digital nomad hub. Nimman cafes charge 120 THB for a specialty coffee; Old City cafes 70 THB. This tool calculates your real 90-min spend including refills.
Setup
What this solves
Daily cafe spend is the largest discretionary line item for digital nomads. Knowing which area to base yourself saves thousands of baht per month.
How to read
- Nimman: trendy, photo-friendly, 100–150 THB for filter coffee + pastry. AC, fast WiFi.
- Old City: temple-view cafes, 60–100 THB. Variable WiFi — ask before settling.
- CMU side: students, 40–80 THB. Smaller, less polished.
- Co-working: 250–400 THB/day, includes unlimited coffee. Best for all-day.
Limitations
- Some cafes charge 50 THB extra if you stay past 2 hours.
- Coworking daily rates look high but include WiFi + power + refills; compare to 2+ cafe visits.
- Burning season (Mar–Apr): cafes close for outdoor seating; you may pay premium for indoor AC.
FAQ
Is Nimman overrated?
A bit — Maya Mall, One Nimman, and the cafe strip are designed for Instagram. Real Chiang Mai is elsewhere. But the WiFi is reliably fast.
What about Rishi / Graph?
Both are top-tier Nimman cafes. Rishi = Indian-Thai fusion; Graph = minimalist, specialty beans. 130–180 THB for a drink.
