THB Converter with Honest Rate
Banks and money changers take 2–6% off the mid-market rate. SuperRich (Bangkok specialist) takes ~0.5%. Airport kiosks take 4–6%. ATMs take 220 THB flat + 1.5% bank fee. This tool shows what you'll actually get, side by side.
Inputs
What this solves
The classic airport vs city center rate trap. Plus ATM vs cash vs card strategy for a 5-day trip.
How to read
- Mid-market rate is the rate on Google / XE / OANDA — the real rate without markup.
- SuperRich: 0.4–0.7% spread. Best in Bangkok. Branches in Pratunam, Silom, Khao San.
- Bank counter: 2–3% spread. Includes bank fee.
- Airport kiosk: 4–6% spread. Convenience tax.
- ATM: mid-rate + 220 THB fee + 1.5% bank fee. Better than airport kiosk for amounts > 4,000 THB.
- Card payment: usually good rate, but if merchant offers "pay in your home currency" (DCC), refuse — they mark up 5%.
Limitations
- SuperRich rates change daily; verify their board on arrival.
- Some bank ATMs charge more than 220 THB. Check the screen before confirming.
- Pre-paid travel cards (Wise, Revolut) use real rate + 0.5% fee — best for card spend.
FAQ
Is DCC always a scam?
Always. Always choose "charge in THB" if the terminal offers your home currency. Your card issuer's rate beats the merchant's rate by ~3%.
Should I bring USD or EUR cash?
USD notes (post-2013 series, no tears) get the best SuperRich rates. EUR also accepted but slightly worse spread. GBP and AUD are accepted at fewer places.
